London Arts Orchestra and Rough Fiction are creating a spectacular new dance-theatre piece woven inside a full orchestral performance of Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique.
This unique collaboration between orchestra and theatre company takes Berlioz’ opium-fuelled score as the blueprint for a theatrical journey into the depths of the composer’s imagination and his obsessive pursuit of inspiration. Music, movement and text conjure the inner world of a man creating one of the romantic movement’s most powerful and unexpected symphonies – written out of wild, unrequited love for an actress, and a passion for Shakespearean tragedy.
The research and development of this project has been supported by the Arts Council England, Barbican / Guildhall, and London Southbank University and was previewed in open rehearsal at LSO St Luke’s. We are now seeking supporters to enable a full production.
